Kasia came into our life shortly after the birth of our daughter, on the recommendation of a family friend. She brought much more than capable hands (though hers are highly experienced in all matters of infant care). She brought calm, kindness, and love into an otherwise chaotic situation. As first-time parents, we were overwhelmed and exhausted beyond anything we’d ever experienced before. Kasia helped us get into a sleep routine with our daughter and enabled us to get some desperately-needed sleep of our own. She also taught us techniques & strategies that we still use to this day (she’s 15 months!). My wife and daughter and I are extremely grateful to Kasia for her time with us. We often recommend her to friends and would do the same to anyone looking for help.

To begin, Kasia is an AMAZING person. During my twin pregnancy, I read a lot about the fourth trimester. Thus, I worked to make sure I had the right support network set up not only for the babies, but for me too. Hiring a postpartum doula was a huge part of this plan. It is hard for me to put into words just what Kasia for my family and me during this incredibly special time. Her kindness, compassion, wisdom, knowledge, expertise, energy, and vibrations truly had such an enormous effect on making this time incredible. The vibe in my home was calm and blissful and I attribute so much of that to her. Specifically, she taught me how to tandem breast feed my twins (crucial for making time for my own rest and for getting them on a the same schedule), made homemade bone broth for me to enjoy, helped me process my birth experience (the good and the scary, which was so important!!!), and talked with me about microbiome and gut health - something I am passionate about. She was flexible about scheduling during a moment in time when every day is new and uncertain for a new mother. I ended up seeing her nearly every weekday for a few weeks because I loved having her in my home! (I really cannot say enough about her calming energy!) My own mother was with us for two months and Kasia came back to spend some time with us after she left. I would recommend hiring Kasia to absolutely anyone.

Postpartum care should not be overlooked in your preparations for this momentous time in your life. Taking over for your birth doula after delivery, your postpartum doula will guide and support you through the complex transition of the “4th trimester.” Many traditions from around the world honor some version of a “moon to moon,” or the 30 days of rest and recovery, that follows a woman’s pregnancy, giving her time to heal and bond with her newborn child. Your Postpartum Doula is there to help you create a safe space or “postpartum sanctuary.” They emphasize the importance of self-care, taking time for yourself and creating a peaceful atmosphere for your entire family. Your Postpartum Doula will help you consider your dietary options, consult about lifestyle considerations and provide support for early breastfeeding challenges.
Anytime. But you can certainly choose to interview a few of them before giving birth. Keep in mind that after the baby is born your focus will be on your newborn. Having your Postpartum Doula chosen beforehand can minimize the stress when you need help the most. Some Birthing Doulas also offer Postpartum Doula services.
Yes. You can have both if you like. Some parents prefer to enjoy the support of a Doula during and after birth, where others prefer to have one of the other. You will know what is best for you and your family.
Every new parents would benefit from a postpartum doula. It's a non-judgemental support for the whole family. They provide education through options, they never judge your choices, they nurture and care, they help you trouble shoot the challenges that appear in those early days of parenting. Postpartum doulas are like the most loving and caring companions in that postnatal period without any agenda for you family.
