I cannot recommend Jenn enough for getting me through the birth of my first son, I honestly don' t know what I would've done without her. Initially, I knew nothing about babies, never changed a diaper, and left the hospital after birth feeling confused and scared about breastfeeding. I'm forever thankful for Jenn's guidance through my first moments of motherhood. She is caring, extremely encouraging (which was so crucial when I began to breastfeed) with the perfect touch of empathy when I needed it. She saw me through my best, my worst and on top of that, was there the second I needed her if I had to text her outside of her hours. Anything I was confused about, she'd always have a thorough explanation to back up her advice, was never pushy and not once did she seem impatient when I was upset or moody from lack of sleep. With her help, I was able to get some sleep in when I needed to keep my sanity and was the best thing for my marriage because my husband and I were able to put all of our attention and time into our son as she never hesitated to help me with simple tasks like a huge stack of laundry or a warm meal if I was too exhausted to clean or cook myself. I always joke with her that she has a sixth sense because anytime I need her, she is there and has the perfect answer or advice to everything!! I'm currently hoping for baby #2 and will hire her again immediately. Hiring her was one of the best decisions I made and I makes me actually excited to one day experience the newborn phase all over again!

I hired Jennifer as my postpartum doula and I am so glad I did. She was very professional right from the start, extremely responsive and a great communicator. She made sure I was well taken care of. She made me delicious broth and did all sorts of things to make sure I was on my way to healing properly after the birth of my son. I am very thankful that Jennifer was a part of my journey into motherhood!

Postpartum care should not be overlooked in your preparations for this momentous time in your life. Taking over for your birth doula after delivery, your postpartum doula will guide and support you through the complex transition of the “4th trimester.” Many traditions from around the world honor some version of a “moon to moon,” or the 30 days of rest and recovery, that follows a woman’s pregnancy, giving her time to heal and bond with her newborn child. Your Postpartum Doula is there to help you create a safe space or “postpartum sanctuary.” They emphasize the importance of self-care, taking time for yourself and creating a peaceful atmosphere for your entire family. Your Postpartum Doula will help you consider your dietary options, consult about lifestyle considerations and provide support for early breastfeeding challenges.
Anytime. But you can certainly choose to interview a few of them before giving birth. Keep in mind that after the baby is born your focus will be on your newborn. Having your Postpartum Doula chosen beforehand can minimize the stress when you need help the most. Some Birthing Doulas also offer Postpartum Doula services.
Yes. You can have both if you like. Some parents prefer to enjoy the support of a Doula during and after birth, where others prefer to have one of the other. You will know what is best for you and your family.
Every new parents would benefit from a postpartum doula. It's a non-judgemental support for the whole family. They provide education through options, they never judge your choices, they nurture and care, they help you trouble shoot the challenges that appear in those early days of parenting. Postpartum doulas are like the most loving and caring companions in that postnatal period without any agenda for you family.
