Amber

Amber’s approach to postpartum care is heart-centered, stemming from the life altering experience of her own birth as a mother. She knows that the birth of a parent can be just as intense as childbirth, whether it’s the first baby or the third, and understands that it is essential to continue feeling safe, supported, and encouraged during this extension of labor. Stress and overwhelm are not conducive to bonding, learning, healing, and hormonal balance - all key elements for becoming the best parents we can be. Amber’s experiences as a mother and a doula have taught her that when birthing people are fully supported, they open the window to an incredible opportunity to thrive, to transform, and fully tap into their own innate wisdom. Amber gently creates a necessary container for deep renewal and peace, where a new parents’ unexpected emotions are normalized, change is welcomed, challenges are overcome, and transitions are eased. Amber is a seasoned Postpartum Doula, trained through Birth Arts International, a Certified Breastfeeding Counselor, Newborn Mothers Postpartum Professional, Newborn Care Specialist, and Reiki II Practitioner. She is trained in Bengkung Belly Binding, is currently a student of traditional herbalism, and utilizes her background in dance and the arts to help her clients reconnect to their bodies and spirits after birth. Using evidence-based information, world healing traditions, and radical compassion as the foundations for her calm and grounded caregiving, Amber acts as both a collaborator and guide. She focuses on helping her clients to discover the unique path that will bring them the most confidence and joy in parenting, and beyond. Adding photography to her offering in such a safe and intimate space ensures that the vital moments of this transformational period will be captured without intrusion or stress, in the most authentic way possible.

“Amber was an absolute life saver!!! I don't know what we would have done without her. We didn't have any family close by and she was a surrogate mom, sister, aunt, & friend, all in one. Not only is she deeply knowledgeable about all things baby, but she also brought a total sense of calm and relaxation to our home every time she was here. Which was priceless because our lives felt like tornados for the first few weeks of adjusting to having a new born. If you are looking for someone who is kind, caring, compassionate, helpful, and knowledgeable Amber's it! “

Dana G.

“Amber's support was invaluable and I cannot sing her praises enough. My husband and I had a wonderful experience working with her in the weeks following my birth and we highly recommend her as a postpartum resource. We really appreciated her calming presence, her willingness to help with everything, and her ability to make us comfortable at home with our newborn even within the first couple days."

Diana

"As a new father I completely endorse Amber. She helped my wife and I so much in the first couple weeks with the basics and so much more. Thanks so much!”

Tim

“Amber was there on our first day back from the hospital after a stressful birth. Her calm, positive and cheerful presence and her excellent listening skills really helped us transition to our first weeks of newborn care, and she was invaluable in helping us and reassuring us afterwards with many issues that came up. She radiates an aura of joy, but is down to earth. I trust her completely and would definitely recommend her."

Anton

“Amber came into our home and immediately provided a calming presence and nurtured us as we navigated the first few cloudy days of parenthood. She thought of ways to help us adapt that we never would have thought of. Not having family near by, being first time parents, and having a c-section were all reasons to have a postpartum doula. Amber added to the magical experience of being new parents. We'll always recall how special it was to have her help!"

Postpartum care should not be overlooked in your preparations for this momentous time in your life. Taking over for your birth doula after delivery, your postpartum doula will guide and support you through the complex transition of the “4th trimester.” Many traditions from around the world honor some version of a “moon to moon,” or the 30 days of rest and recovery, that follows a woman’s pregnancy, giving her time to heal and bond with her newborn child. Your Postpartum Doula is there to help you create a safe space or “postpartum sanctuary.” They emphasize the importance of self-care, taking time for yourself and creating a peaceful atmosphere for your entire family. Your Postpartum Doula will help you consider your dietary options, consult about lifestyle considerations and provide support for early breastfeeding challenges.
Anytime. But you can certainly choose to interview a few of them before giving birth. Keep in mind that after the baby is born your focus will be on your newborn. Having your Postpartum Doula chosen beforehand can minimize the stress when you need help the most. Some Birthing Doulas also offer Postpartum Doula services.
Yes. You can have both if you like. Some parents prefer to enjoy the support of a Doula during and after birth, where others prefer to have one of the other. You will know what is best for you and your family.
Every new parents would benefit from a postpartum doula. It's a non-judgemental support for the whole family. They provide education through options, they never judge your choices, they nurture and care, they help you trouble shoot the challenges that appear in those early days of parenting. Postpartum doulas are like the most loving and caring companions in that postnatal period without any agenda for you family.
