Anna

Anna is a mother and a lifelong artist. Creative, sensitive and agile; Anna is able to stay fluid and present with the dance of pregnancy and flux of early motherhood. Hailing from the vibrant community of Austin, Texas; Anna moved to New York to study at the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase. Before making the transition to birth work she danced professionally for 14 years. She completed her birth and postpartum doula training through Doulas of North America in 2012 and became a certified lactation counselor through the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice in 2013. She was a volunteer full-spectrum and birth doula with the Doula Project from 2014 to 2016. She is currently enrolled in the Childbirth Education Association of Metropolitan New York's two-year certification program. Anna brings a joy and sense of play to her work that allow her clients to drop into a greater sense of ease and flow during their process. She believes that the complex and multi-dimensional process of birth deserves abundant loving care and attention. Her boundless energy and profound commitment to healthy pregnancy have become sources of inspiration to everyone she has touched through her practice.

Not necessarily. But we highly recommend it because information is power. Learning what to expect from your birth process is the key to having a peaceful journey. Our childbirth educators will give you the confidence to interface with your clinical team and make sure that you know all your options at every step. Deeply grounding this practice in evidenced based information and conveying it to their clients in a way that is approachable and relatable.

The most optimal time for a childbirth class is between 20 and 30 weeks. It gives you an opportunity to gain knowledge and clarity about the birth process and choices and a postpartum period. Your preferences for birth and postpartum will become more crystallized throughout the class and it will give you more time to plan for whatever your wishes for birth might be. Nevertheless, if you are already past 30 weeks, taking a class will be always beneficial at any stage before labor starts.
